Yuvraj Singh’s name wasn’t discussed for Bangladesh tour: Sandeep Patil

Speaking to media after the meeting, Patil said that the reason why Harbhajan Singh was picked for the tour was because there were six left-handers in the Bangladesh squad, which made the selectors go for an extra off-spinner along with Ravichandran Ashwin.

Patil also informed that the name of Ravindra Jadeja and a few other spinners also came up in the meeting.

Notably, the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced Team India squad for the upcoming Bangladesh tour.

While Virat Kohli will lead the team in Tests, MS Dhoni will be the skipper in the ODIs.

Patil also confirmed that no players had requested for a rest and barring Mohammed Shami, all other players had reported fit for selction.

Earlier, there were reports that Kohli was planning to skip the lone Test match against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place in Fatullah from June 10 to 14, to take some rest after a long and tiring season.

Team India will tour Bangladesh in June to play a one-off Test and three ODIs.

The Test match will be played at Fatullah between June 10-14.

The entire three-match ODI series will be played at Mirpur with the 1st ODI being played on June 18, 2nd ODI on June 21 and the final ODI on June 24.
