Wriddhiman Saha does an MS Dhoni, gets Haseeb Hameed run-out in style

New Delhi: It is difficult to fill in the void of great players and the pressure is even more if the void is created by some with the talent of MS Dhoni.

The limited overs skipper announced retirement from the longer format of the game to focus more on ODIs and T20Is.

Wriddhiman Saha is the man who was given responsibility of filling Dhoni’s shoes and it can be said that he has done a farely good job both behind the wicket and with the bat.

Saha’s skills as India’s prime wicket-keeper were put to test during the Second day of 2nd Test between India and England at Vizag.

Here’ how the West Bengal cricketer did full justice to the faith shown in him by coach Anil Kumble and skipper Virat kohli.

Following a mix-up between Haseeb Hameed and Joe Root, the former paid the costliest price possible and got himself run-out while attempting to take a second run.

It was the 21st over of the innings and Ravindra Jadeja had Joe Root on strike. Root pushed the ball to leg-side and went for the single. Hameed responded to the call, and was also keen to covert the single into a double.

Root initially showed interest but sent back the youngster Hameed seeing Jayant Yadav picking up the ball quicker than expected. Yadav swiftly picked up the ball and threw towards Saha who knew the position of the stumps and executed the act of throwing ball towards it in scintillating fashion.

Both his awareness and technique were similar to the one shown by MS Dhoni during the 4th ODI between the two nations.

By the end of Day 2, the visitors were down having put just 103 on board, and have a mountain to climb in the remaining three days to even stand a chance of repeating the same result they got in Rajkot.
