Vijay Mallya says ready to return to India if assured safety, freedom

vijayMumbai: Vijay Mallya has told the United Breweries Board that he is ready to return to India, but on a condition.

According to a report, Mallya told the board of directors that he will only return to the country is he is assured safety of passage and his freedom.
Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, who is the Independent Board Member of United Breweries is quoted as saying that Mallya is in serious renegotiations with the banks and is working on yet another settlement deal which he intends to fulfill.

Mallya, the chairman of United Breweries Ltd, spoke via videoconferencing in meeting he chaired on Friday. The United Breweries board and Heineken are backing Mallya completely on the issue.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is seeking to extradite the liquor baron from the United Kingdom, has asked several lenders of Kingfisher Airlines to furnish details of the financial transactions conducted by the grounded airline.
