VIGILANCE NABS SHO, ASI IN BRIBERY CASES

Chandigarh, September 11: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed SHO and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) red handed while accepting bribes in two different cases

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Inspector Sahib Singh SHO, posted at police station Amir Khas in Ferozepur district was nabbed red handed while he was accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from complainant Vijay Kumar of Jalalabad to submit report on the application given by complainant in the court to get the wheat and truck on supardari which was confiscated by the police in a case.

The complaint Vijay Kumar has informed the vigilance that accused inspector was demanding Rs. 1,00,000/- for the above said report and first installment of Rs. 50,000/- was to be paid today.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused SHO was nabbed red handed in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this case the Vigilance has registered a case at PS VB Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.

. In another case ASI Jagir Singh posted at Police Station Tripari in Patiala city was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Rahul Kumar of village Manakpur, PS Banur, district Patiala. The Complainant has approached the VB that the accused ASI was demanding Rs. 20000 to release his vehicle confiscated in an excise case.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigations was under progress.
