While Trisha had a successful 2015 with hits like Yennai Arindhaal, Bhoologam and Thoongavanam, the current year started on a lukewarm note with the Aranmanai sequel. The svelte actress who is concentrating on performance-oriented roles is excited about her upcoming flick Nayaki, a horror movie where she essays a dual role, under Govardhan’s direction. Besides, she has Kodi with Dhanush, which is ready for release, and Kaathu Vakkula Rendu Kadhal with Vijay Sethupathi.
But now, the VTV actress has signed up for yet another female-centric horror film, which is directed by Madhesh, a former associate of Shankar who wielded the megaphone for Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Madhurey. Producer Lakshman bankrolls the film.
Confirming the news, Madhesh tells DC, “Yes, it is yet-to-be titled and the plot is centered around Trisha. It is a supernatural thriller and shot mostly overseas in the locales of London, Bangkok and Mexico, as the story takes place there.”
Quiz him on why he chose Trisha, and he says, “Given a solid character, Trisha will shine. And for my script, she was the right choice.”
So, what role does she play? “She is a fiery blogger in the movie, and she is portraying this novel character for the first time,” he says. Though he was unwilling to divulge more, our sources say that the storyline follows an active blogger, who comes across some startling things, —which she then tries to explore.
On the hero front, Madhesh says, “We have shortlisted a few from Mumbai and are yet to finalise someone.” The director attributes being busy with his Marathi film Friends for his long absence from K’town. “Friends, which got released recently, was a big hit and I have been getting offers from Marathi movies,” he adds. While ace Gurudev is behind the camera, the duo Vivek-Mervin is composing the music.
