The action of the UIDAI against The Tribune and its reporter Rachna Khaira is highly deplorable. It’s no less than the gag order against the free press of the country and its all the more reminiscent to the dark era of emergency unleashed by Mrs. Indira Gandhi. The BJP which was Jan Sang then used to call late Indira Gandhi a fascist and her Government the ‘Fascist regime. It’s the fourth pillar of our democracy which is singularly providing immense strength to sustain the other three pillars and save them from crumbling because of the all pervasive systemic decay.
We unequivocally express our solidarity with The Tribune and the free and bold Press of India. The UIDAI authorities should not only withdraw their complaint against The Tribune and its reporter Rachna Khaira ; they should also apologize to the Nation for unscrupulously gagging the freedom of the press.
