Tax structure in Punjab to be revamped by taking stake holders into confidence: Kejriwal

SUNAM, Feb 25th: Taking serious note of the genuine grievances of the business community about faulty tax system running in Punjab, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced that entire tax structure in the state would be revamped to make it corruption free and business friendly.

“Tax structure will be revamped by taking all stake holders including business community into confidence to make it corruption free”, Kejriwal said while addressing a gathering on traders in Sunam here .

“We have already done it Delhi and now not only the business community is satisfied and corruption has been eradicated but also the state’s revenue has increased manifold”, Delhi CM claimed.

Before AAP’s coming into power, there was acute corruption in the departments concerning tax collection, Now during AAP regime, not even a single raid was conducted and traders are submitting their dues taxes as their responsibility without harassment, Kejriwal said vowing that every businessmen should be given ‘due respect’, and that is what AAP did in its first year of rule.

Earlier, traders aired their grievances with the Kejriwal and apprised him that they are being denied their due refund of Value Added Tax (VAT).

Pointing out the VAT on diesel in Punjab was the highest as compared to the neighbouring states Haryana, Kejriwal accused Punjab CM for being concerned for farmers as it was this section which would suffer the most because the farm sector in the state is the main consumer of diesel.
