SUKHBIR FORMS PANEL TO MOBILISE TAKSALI AKALIS

Chandigarh August 31 – Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir SIngh Badal today formed a 7-member committee to mobilise and coordinate with “Taksali” Akali workers and leaders at the grass-root level and their families.

The committee will be headed by the party’s Secretary General Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. The other members of the panel are Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahampura, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Charanjit SIngh Atwal, Tota Singh and Bibi Jagir Kaur Giving this information to the mediapersons, party’s spokesperson Harcharan Bains said that the initiative is aimed at improving coordination with traditional Akali workers and war horses consideredthe soul and the backbone of the party.

The committee will visit Taksali workers and leaders at the grassroots level throughout the state.. Apart from getting feedback from local workers and leaders, the panel will also listen to the problems being faced by them and address their grievances wherever these come to light.

Mr Bains said that the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal is keen that the party should benefit by the wisdom and experience of its old warhorses. Apart from ensuring regular interaction with old and traditional workers, believes the SAD president, the services of these workers and leaders should be duly recognised.

Accordingly, the panel will prepare lists of Taksali Akali workers who would be honoured by Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal and other senior leaders of the party The panel will also collect database and document the role and contribution of old and traditional Akali soldiers and their families.

Special focus will be placed on the sacrifices made by them for the cause of the Khalsa Panth and for Punjab’s interests, including their participation in various struggles and agitations launched by the party in the past, such as the Dharamyudh Morcha, said Mr Bains
