Sukhbir Badal demands imm withdrawal of false cases registered against SAD leaders and workers

Manawala (Ferozepur), December 7 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded immediate withdrawal of false cases registered against SAD leaders who were attacked and shot at by Congress goons in the presence of the local police, even as he disclosed that Bathinda Range IG M S Chhinna was responsible for excesses against Akali leaders and workers.

Addressing a massive dharna here to protest against registration of the false cases as well as deliberate collusion between the police force and Congress workers which had led to the attack on Akali leaders yesterday during the course of which they were injured and their vehicles fired at and vandalized, Mr Badal said the SAD would take its fight for justice to the logical end. “We will even move the honorable high court and demand that the police officials including the local DSP as well as IG M S Chhinna be treated as co-conspirators in the attack on Akali leaders”.

The SAD president said it was unfortunate that the Congress government did not have the courage to face the municipal elections despite being elected to office only eight months back. He said the very fact that the government had to resort to such high handed means was itself indicative of the fact that it had lost the confidence of the people.

Senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia while speaking on the occasion detailed how the local DSP had colluded with Congress activists. He said the SAD delegation of Vardev Mann, Joginder Jindu and Avtar Singh Zira had spoken to the DSP and informed him that they wanted to meet the observer. “The DSP told them to come on the very route on which they were attacked in the presence of the local SHO. Despite only eight persons and three vehicles being involved in the attack, an FIR at the instance of the Congress mla Kulbir Singh Zira alleged that 90 people including 12 leaders were present on the spot. This was done deliberately to thwart all prospective candidates from contesting the local elections”, he added.

Mr Majithia said it was unfortunate that the writ of Punjab DGP Suresh Arora was not running in the area and that M S Chinna had abrogated all powers to himself at the instance of the Congress government.

Senior leader and mp Ranjit Singh Brahmpura also spoke on the occasion besides others.
