STUDENTS PINS RED CROSS FLAG ON PUNJAB GOVERNOR

kaptan-singhCHANDIGARH: Students of Govt. Girls Senior Secondry School Hoshiarpur led by Mr.C.S. Talwar, Secretary Red Cross, Punjab, pinned a Red Cross Flag on the Punjab Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki at Haryana Raj Bhavan, today on the occasion of Red Cross Flag Day.

Appreciating the theme of this year “Everywhere for Everyone”, Prof. Solanki said that the theme rightly echoes the spirit of seven fundamental principles of Red Cross, the essence of which was to do the service of mankind everywhere without any discrimination of caste, creed, race, region or religion. He also advocated the need for further strengthening the Red Cross Movement through massive collective effort, which is carrying out the noble mission of alleviating human sufferings through its fundamental doctrine of selfless service.

The Governor said that this day, which is observed all over the world, presents a great opportunity to learn about the international efforts of the Red Cross and also reminds us of our social obligation to contribute in minimizing the sufferings of humanity and to continue to adhere to the basic principles – humanitarianism, compassion, universality and voluntary service – that universally characterize the Red Cross.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Mrs. Lalita Arora Principal of the School, Mrs. Meera Kumari Red Cross Councillor,and Mr.Ravinder Kumar.
