Hundreds of Indian students facing ‘deportation’ from Canada stage protest
Chandigarh, August 4 : The leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Thursday slammed Captain Amrinder Singh for shying away from taking action against Badals, despite allegations of blatant corruption leveled by his cabinet colleagues. While speaking at a function organized by the AAP volunteers at Dera Bassi to hounor him, Khaira said that the issue of cable mafia forcing Navjot Singh Sidhu to bring an ordinance in the cabinet pertaining to the alleged 20,000 Crore tax evasion by Fasway Transmission Private Limited, illustrates the distrust of a Minister in his Chief Minister.
Khaira said that demand of Sidhu to amend the rules and give him powers to audit the discrepancies done by Fastway Network, shows the lack of faith that he has in his own Chief Minister. He said that statement of Congress MLA Surjit Singh Dhiman about government’s failure to tame drug menace in state is also part of the failure of Captain Government to take action against Mafia Akali leaders. “Rather than taking action against Akalis, Capt. Amrinder and his men have taken control of Sand, Land, Drug mafia etc. being run by the leaders of previous government.” said Khaira.
Taking jibe at Capt. Amrinder’s absence from the state, Khaira said that he is not at all serious about the state affairs. “Sidhu himself told the media that Captain conveyed him through one of his friend to slow down in taking actions against Akalis. If the Chief Minister has no time to talk to his Ministers, then what would the common people expect from Capt.” quipped Khaira. He suggested that in case Capt. Amrinder Singh doesn’t allow Navjot Sidhu to take concrete action against cable mafia, the minister should quit his job instead of merely making media statements.
Talking about common people including Congress workers’ dissatisfaction with the government, Khaira said that Capt. has made false promises to the youth, farmers and other sections of society. “Captain Amrinder has failed drastically in delivering what he had promised before elections. All his lies stand exposed in just four months of the formation of his government.” LOP said.
“There is nothing new about the congenial relations between Capt. Amrinder and the Badal family as at the end of previous government, Badals had filed a closure report against Capt. in the Ludhaina city centre scam and Amritsar improvement trust cases. He is just paying back the obligations made by the Badals in the past.” said Khaira.
