Sikh organisations calls for observing Black Diwali to protest sacrilege of Granth Sahib

Bargari (Faridkot), The Sikh organisations today gave a call to the people to observe Black Diwali in protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and the inexcusable failure of the police to apprehend the real culprits.

In the protest of the first of its kind, religious leaders would march from Fatehgarh Sahib to Chandigarh to present cup of blood to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal onOctober 30.

United Akali Dal convenor Gurdip Singh said this would be preceded by Akhand Paths in gurdwaras from October 27 with bhog being performed on October 29.

The decisions were announced by Baljit Singh Daduwal at the bhog ceremony of two persons killed in police firing that was organized here and attended by large number of people.

The protest includes call to the people to come out on roads in cities and villages without blocking the traffic on November 3 so that public is not inconvenienced.

The gathering demanded release all political prisoners and the resolution adopted blamed Badal for the deteriorating condition of Surat Singh Khalsa who has been on indefinite fast for this purpose. It was stated that in case Khalsa died, it would be a political murder for which the responsibility would be that of the state government.

The resolution pressed for the release of two brothers Jaswinder Singh and Rupinder Singh framed in the case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari that has triggered continuing protests all over the state.

It was also decided to include the demands of the farmers as part of the agitation and accordingly, another resolution demanded CBI probe into the sale of spurious pesticides in Punjab that had resulted in the ruination of the cotton farmers.
