SC to take up Loya’s death probe plea

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will on Friday hear a petition filed by a journalist from Maharashtra for an independent probe into the death of special CBI judge BH Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. Loya had died of a cardiac arrest on December 1, 2014 in Nagpur where he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague’s daughter.
He was handling the sensitive Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in which various police officers and BJP president Amit Shah were named. A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra agreed to take up the petition filed by journalist BR Lone.
