SC slams stay on Salman Khan’s conviction, says law same for all

New Delhi, In yet another blow to superstar Salman Khan in the black buck poaching case, the Supreme Court Friday declined relief to the actor who had filed a petition seeking a stay on his conviction.

The apex court in its order slamming the stay on conviction very clearly mentioned that law is same for all the citizens and there is no scope for any special treatment to any convict.
Salman Khan had on August 27 filed an affidavit in the SC appealing for a stay on his conviction in the case. The actor in his affidavit had argued that he is one of the highest tax payers in the country and it is his fundamental right to practice his occupation which requires him to travel around the world.

Earlier, the SC had issued a notice to the Bollywood superstar, challenging a High Court decision which had stayed his conviction in the hunting case. The Rajasthan High Court had, on November 12, 2013, stayed Salman’s 2006 conviction in the case.

A final hearing in the case will be held on October 28.
