Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha organized in remembrance of Former Chief Minister Beant Singh

Chandigarh, August 31: In the remembrance of Former Chief Minister Late Mr. Beant Singh, a Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha was organized at Beant Singh Memorial, Sector 42 here today, on his Shahidi Diwas. On the occasion of this state-level function, people paid floral tributes to their beloved Former Chief Minister.

Youth clad in red turbans took a pledge against drugs, terrorism, separatism and corruption in order to maintain the unity and national integrity.

Paying homage to the late CM, the galaxy of leaders present on the occasion hailed his efforts for bringing peace in the State and ending terrorism. They recalled the services of S. Beant Singh in restoring peace to the trouble-torn State of Punjab during the turbulent period of militancy and said that he is best remembered for providing strong and determined leadership to the State of Punjab in very troubled times.

Paying glowing tributes to late Sardar Beant Singh ji, MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli said that the divisive forces are once again trying to disrupt the secularism of the State by supporting Referendum 2020 and spreading narco-terrorism but the people of Punjab would not let these divisive forces to succeed in their nefarious designs. He said that the former CM worked tirelessly for reconstruction and reconciliation, and for restoration of peace and communal harmony. “We will follow his footsteps and will purge the State from malice of drugs,” said he.

Sardar Beant Singh ji had a very long innings in public life, spanning over four decades. He showed an understanding and vision so rarely seen in public life. He brought new hope to Punjab and laid the foundation for the State’s future progress. In this quest he laid down his own life.
