Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha marks S. Beant Singh’s 20th Martyrdom Day

NS__9300Chandigarh, A solemn and impressive function was organized at the Samadhi of Sardar Beant Singh Ji Late Chief Minister, Punjab on his 20th Martyrdom Day, at his Shaheedi Samarak/Memorial, Sector-42, Chandigarh.

 

The day was commemorated as Balidan Divas, in which a large number of people paid floral tributes to their great leader.
A Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha (prayer meeting of all religions) was also organized on the occasion.
A galaxy of senior leaders of congress party led  by S. Partap Singh Bajwa, President, PPCC. and senior functionaries of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee including leaders of different frontal organizations of the Punjab Pradesh Congress, District Presidents and representatives of various social organizations, besides family members of the late leader, were present on the occasion.
Those present on the occasion recalled the services of Sardar Beant Singh in restoring peace to the trouble torn state of Punjab during the turbulent period of militancy, they recalled how the late leader sacrificed his life at the altar of peace.

It needs to be mentioned that Sardar Beant Singh maintained a regular rapport with the political workers at the grass root level, particularly the Congressmen.
