The South Korean tech giant Samsung is set to launch its much-anticipated Galaxy S24 phones on January 17. As the Galaxy Unpacked event approaches, a recent leak suggests that Samsung might follow Google, by offering at least seven years of Android updates for its upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone.
Google started this trend by introducing seven years of OS updates for the latest Pixel 8 series last October.
Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra smartphones are often considered among the best in the world of Android devices. The heavyweight Ultra competes directly with iPhone’s Pro models every year, as both devices come equipped with top-end features. This could be a major reason why Samsung is planning to bring seven years of OS updates to its flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Specifications
Major leaks also suggest that the Galaxy S24 Ultra may feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it may be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 12GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is also expected to come with a large 5,000mAh battery and Android 14 OS.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could sport a 200MP primary camera with 3x, 5x and 10x telephoto sensors. For video calls and selfies, you can expect a 12MP front camera. Samsung is opting for a titanium frame instead of the typical aluminium frame for its flagship. The new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to have a slightly slimmer design than its predecessors.

Rumours suggest the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may carry a similar price tag as its predecessor Galaxy S23 Ultra, around Rs 124999 in India. However, the official details are yet to be revealed, which you will get on the day of the launch.
