SAD slams Kejriwal for collecting hefty funds in foreign countries

Chandigarh April 3 : Shiromani Alkali Dal (SAD) today said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its political leaders were deceiving Punjabis in the name of fund collection by making collections through dinner programmes in Punjab and now embarking on a foreign spree to fill their coffers.

In a statement senior SAD leader Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal said Kejriwal and his team had earlier virtually forced party cadre and prospective candidates to fork up Rs 5,000 per plate for food in a State which prided itself on running community kitchens. He said now the same tactic was being played abroad with all senior leaders including party State Convenor Suchha Singh Chhotepur holding such programmes in Europe from today.

The SAD leader said seeing the prospect of rich collections from gullible Punjabis, even AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal was likely to visit the United Kingdom soon.

Mr Grewal urged Punjabis to unmask the AAP representatives during their trips abroad. “They need to ask the AAP representatives how they aim to use the money so collected. “Till now Kejriwal has used money, including that of the tax payer, only for his self-glorification and done nothing for the people of Delhi, what to speak about Punjab”, he added.

The SAD general secretary said earlier social activist Anna Hazare had also condemned Kejriwal for misusing money which was collected by India Against Corruption at Hazare’s agitation for his own elector purposes.

On the current visit of senior AAP leaders’ to foreign countries, Grewal said that elections were to be contested in Punjab but he (Kejriwal) and his team were collecting money from USA, UK and other places. He said there should be a probe on the sources from which money was being collected by AAP. He said AAP should also divulge the collections and come clean on the manner in which money collected from the people was being used by it.
