SAD expels 6 rebel candidates at Ludhiana Civic polls

Chandigarh/16 February: Taking a strict disciplinary action against those candidates who were found to be opposing the party candidates in certain wards of Ludhiana during the Civic polls, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today expelled 6 leaders from the party. S. Harpreet Singh Bedi from Ward no. 72 was also shown the door for his anti-party activities as he had fielded his wife Veeran Bedi from Ward no 73 as an independent candidate against the BJP’s official candidate even after he got the SAD ticket to contest from Ward no 72. Taking serious note of the Bedi couple’s anti-party activities, the party has suspended their primary membership of the Party and decided to extend support to Shri Ravinder Kaushiq (Happy) from Ward no 32.

Giving this information at the party headquarters, Senior Vice president and spokesman of the party, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the other leaders who have been expelled for their anti-party activities include S. Gurdeep Singh Leel and Bibi Kulwinder Kaur Goga, both contesting as independents from wards no 74 and 41 respectively. He said that the primary membership of Bibi Goga’s husband Sohan Singh Goga had also been suspended. Another candidate S. Gurpal Singh Kohli was also suspended from the party for contesting as an independent candidate from Ward no 44. “A detailed report has been sought about the anti-party activities of the SAD leaders from other wards as well. A disciplinary action would be taken against those found opposing the party candidates in any manner”. He added.
