SAD asks Kejriwal to throw out tainted legislators committing crimes against women from AAP

MAHESH-INDER-SINGH-GREWAL

Chandigarh, The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today castigated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for failing to throw out tainted legislators who were committing crimes against women from AAP.

In a statement issued here today, former minister and SAD general secretary Maheshinder Singh Grewal asked Kejriwal to explain to the people why he had not thrown Somnath Bharti out of the party even after he had been charge sheeted in a case involving a bid to kill his wife.

Mr Grewal said this was not a one odd case. Earlier senior AAP leader Kumar Vishwas is in the dock in a case involving molestation of his own women party worker. He said in yet another case AAP Karol Bagh legislator Vishesh Ravi was in the spotlight in a case of extortion regarding collection of party funds.

The SAD general secretary said there were other numerous cases of misconduct done by AAP leaders and legislators but no serious action had been taken against such persons by Kejriwal. “However Kejriwal has been quick to suspend two party mps from Punjab as well as throw out his own colleagues who founded AAP along with him because they did not accept his totalitarian ways and wanted more inner party democracy”, Mr Grewal added.

The SAD leader said the tall claims of AAP about providing security to the women, stood busted with the party failing to take action against legislator Somnath Bharti who has been accused of trying to kill his wife Lipika. He said it was strange that AAP was yet to take action against such elements who had been accused of brutal and inhuman behaviour.

Disclosing more, the Akali leader said the AAP government in Delhi had not taken a single pro-people step with every section of society being forced to resort to agitations to protect their basic rights. He said instead of providing facilities needed by the people the energy of AAP leadership was being channelized in constant and needless confrontation with Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the central government.

Mr Grewal said Arvind Kejriwal must explain whether he proposed to provide the same political leadership in Punjab. “If not then Somnath Bharti and other tainted leaders must be thrown out of AAP immediately”, he added.
