SAD asks Amarinder to come clean on Ludhiana City Centre scam

Chandigarh, February 22 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh to come clean in the Ludhiana City scam case instead of playing to the gallery and talking of cases which had already been dismissed by the courts.

In a statement here, SAD Secretary General and party MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said Amarinder should tell the people of Punjab why he was being tried on corruption charges. “The level of corruption done in the Ludhiana City Centre scam is a shiny example of your autocratic and coterie centred rule”. Mr Dhindsa said he had full faith in the judiciary and was confident that all those who had indulged in corruption during Congress rule would be brought to book.

Speaking about the wild allegations made against the Badal family, the SAD leader said Amarinder seemed to have lost his mental equilibrium again. “This happened with Mr Amarinder Singh earlier also in 2011 when he had even made a shadow ministry. Today again Amarinder is smelling power and thinking he is the chief minister in waiting. I would like to tell him to keep in touch with reality. People know what you stand for – an autocratic and anti people regime and will never vote you to power”, the veteran leader said.

Mr Dhindsa said Amarinder was again trying to inflame passions in his thirst for power. He said earlier also Amarinder had indulged in vendetta politics which had only harmed the Congress party. “Now also your threats of vendetta politics will distance you further from the people who will see through the failed and frustrated leader who is making these statements.

Urging Amarinder to exercise restraint and act like an opposition leader rather than a rabble rouser, Mr Dhindsa asked him to debate development by listing his achievements. “The people of Punjab would like to know about your achievements of any. Why are you so shy from citing them. The SAD is ready to talk about its achievements as well as what it has done for the people of the State in the last nine years. The very fact that you have been unable to list even a single significant achievement is indicative of your utter failure as a chief minister”, Mr Dhindsa said adding Amarinder better hang up his boots now then do so after another one year after receiving a third successive drubbing from the SAD- BJP combine.
