SAD accepts Congress challenge, to hold State wide protests on Sept 1 and Pol Khol rally in Jakhar hometown on Sept 9

Chandigarh, August 30 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today accepted the Congress challenge which seeks to deny its leaders entry into villages and simultaneously announced to hold State wide protests against the Congress party and its collaborators – radical leaders and AAP on September 1 besides Pol Khol rally on September 9 to break the arrogance of PCC president Sunil Jakhar.

Addressing a meeting of party legislators, constituency incharges and district observers here, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal announced to give a befitting reply to the conspiracy to weaken Sikh institutions as well as the Sikh panth. He said protests would be held in all 117 constituencies of the State on September 1 in which effigies of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and PCC president Sunil Jakhar would be burnt. He said besides this the party would give a befitting reply to Sunil Jakhar’s threat that Akali leaders would not be allowed to enter villages by holding a Pol Khol rally in Jakhar’s home town Abohar on September 9. “This Pol Khol rally will break the arrogance of Jakhar and show him how popular he is in his own hometown”, Mr Badal told party leaders at a well attended meeting here.

Mr Badal also the SAD would not let the criminal conspiracy hatched by the Congress party along with radical leaders as well as AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira to disturb the hard won peace and communal harmony of the State.

Giving further details, former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the SAD decided to expose Sunil Jakhar who was trying his best to instigate violence against Akali leaders and take the State back to the dark era of terrorism. He said the rally would also give out a clarion call that the Sikh panth would not tolerate interference in its religious affairs. “It will also take the Congress party to task for denigrating Sri Akal Takth and challenging its authority”.
