Hundreds of Indian students facing ‘deportation’ from Canada stage protest
Chandigarh, The Punjab Governor Mr. Shivraj V Patil today administered the oath of office and allegiance to Constitution to the newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner Mr. Sarwan Singh Channy in a brief but impressive ceremony at Punjab Raj Bhavan here.
Mr. Channy held various important key positions in the Punjab government including Principal Secretary Home, NRI Affairs, Financial commissioner Appeals, M.D.Markfed and Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana.
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Charanjit Singh Atwal, Cabinet Ministers, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka, Mr. Ajit Singh Kohar and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Parkash Chand Garg, former Minister Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur were also present on the occasion. Former Chief Information Commissioner Mr. R. I. Singh, all the Information Commissioners, Chief Commissioner Punjab Right to Service Commission, Mr. S.C.Agrawal, former Chief secretary Mr. Rajan Kashyap , galaxy of serving and former bureaucrats of state and central government also attended the oath taking ceremony.
Earlier Chief Secretary Punjab Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal sought the permission of the Governor to start the swearing-in ceremony which was concluded with National Anthem.
