“Run Against Drugs” by BJP at 28 places in Punjab

Punjab on Monday turned into a big arena for an overwhelming number of people from all walks of life pledging to fight the spiraling menace of drugs at RUN AGAINST DRUGS program organized by Yuva Morcha Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab to mark the International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

RUN AGAINST DRUGS by people was a common feature today at nearly twenty-eight places in this border state with Union Minister and State President BJP Punjab Vijay Sampla himself leading in Mukerian. The ‘say no to drugs’ RUN initiative under the aegis of BJP found unprecedented support, especially from youth who came out in large numbers to run against drugs, said Vineet Joshi State Secretary BJP Punjab here today in a press release.

The menace of Drug-Abuse could only be rooted out with collaborative efforts of Parents, Society and Government, said Sampla while addressing the gathering. Role of parents is most important and non-ignorable, then comes society and Government is in the end.  Ideal parenting can ensure eradication of evils, like Drug-Abuse, Dowry,Female foeticide, Caste Inequality, etc from society added Sampla.

The Yuva Morcha leaders of BJP Punjab reached out to people at distant places in many villages and sub-divisions to ensure that the message against drugs is comprehensively delivered, said Joshi. Run Against Drugs  was organized today at Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Patiala, Mukatsar, Barnala, Faridkot, Kapurthala, Nawanshahar, Nabha, Ajnala, Malerkotla, Fazilka, Mohali, Jagraon, Khanna, Rajpura,  Tarn Taran, Ropar, village Hamirgarh in District Sangrur, Batala and Mukerian.

Run Against Drugs in Hoshiarpur was led by National Vice President BJP Avinash Khanna where as former State Presidents of BJP Punjab and Core Group Member Prof Rajinder Bhandari lead in Jalandhar, Ashwani Sharma in Ludhiana, Prof Brij Lal Rinwa in Bathinda and Kamal Sharma in Patiala, added Joshi.

Former Ministers of Punjab Anil Joshi led in Gurdaspur, Arunesh Shakar in Pathankot, Manoranjan Kalia in Amritsar, Ex CPS Sukhpal Singh Nannu in Ferozepur, detailed Joshi.

State Vice Presidents who lead Run against Drugs are Harjit Singh Grewal in Mukatsar, Smt Archana Dutt in Barnala, Ms Umesh Shakar in Faridkot, Rakesh Rathore in Kapurthala, Anil Sareen in Moga, Iqbal Singh Lalpura in Nawanshahar and Raj Kumar Pathi in Nabha further detailed Joshi.

State General Secretaries Kewal Kumar lead in Ajnala, Jiwan Gupta in Malerkotla and Manjit Singh Rai in Fazilka.

State Secretaries, Vineet Joshi lead in Mohali, Renu Thappar in Jagraon, Anil Sachhar in Khanna, Vijay Puri in Rajpura, Media Secretary Diwan Amit Arora lead in Ropar, State Treasurer Gurdev Sharma in Village Hamirgarh district Sangrur and Joint State Treasurer Adarsh Bhatia in Batala.

This exercise today by Punjab BJP is one of the largest efforts against drugs in Punjab on International Anti-Drugs day, claimed Joshi.
