Chandigarh, AAP mla Sukhpal Singh Khaira LoP expressed following views expressed in a discussion held by Kendri Punjab Lekhak Sabha held in defense of freedom of expression at People’s Convention Centre Sector 36 Chandigarh today. The other panel members present were Mr. Joginder Dyal CPI National Executive Member, Dr. Sarabjit Singh, Sukhdev Singh Sirsa, Prof. H.S.Mehta and others.
He stated that the suggestions made by RSS Ideologue Sh. Dina Nath Batra for removing the creative poetry of progressive renowned Punjabi poet Avtar Pash, thought provoking poems of known noble literate Dr. Rabinder Nath Tagore, known literary works of Urdu poet legend Mirza Galib and creative paintings of the world wide known Artist M.F.Hussain from the syllabus of NCERT is a retrograde approach and highly condemnable. This is an attack on creative and progressive thinking of known literary persons. All progressive, democratic and right thinking people and academicians should come forward to thwart the nefarious and callous designs of fundamental forces.
Khaira said that being the leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly as well as the representative of the people of Punjab severely criticize this attack by the RSS Ideologue on academics and ask such retrograde and fundamental forces to refrain from their anti people and anti academics approach and not to tinker with current syllabus of NCERT which gives thought provoking ideas to the budding students.
