Amritsar: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today laid bare his vision for all round development of the holy city Amritsar and announced that in the coming 6 months, Rs. 500-600 crore would be spent on the beautification and overall development of the holy city. He also disclosed that all projects being executed in the city, which are development oriented, would be completed within next 3 months.
Interacting with the media persons at the inauguration of Urban Haat, S. Badal further said that in the near future, special emphasis would be laid on development of heritage hotel, Bus Rapid Transport System, Solid Waste Management system and electric parking. Divulging more, he said that the urban haat and Gobindgarh fort would be developed as a tourist centers.
It is important to mention here that urban haat has been developed by Punjab Urban development Authority (PUDA) in league with Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) with the primary purpose of preserving cultural, artistic and culinary traditions of Punjab.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib along with his better half Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Addressing the media persons at the information center, he said that his recent China visit has been very fruitful as 5-6 companies are ready for establishing cycle plant in the state.
Disclosing more, he said that a cycle plant would be coming up in Ludhiana in 300 acres which would produce 15 lakh cycles and provide employment to 1 lakh people. He also said that a quilt plant would be set up in Amritsar at a cost of Rs. 200 crore employing 2000 people. He also announced opening up of investment office in China by the state government to attract more investments for the state.
Divulging more information, S. Badal said that Punjab is numero uno state in mushroom, honey, tractor, harvester combines, yarn, hosiery, readymade garments, hand tools and sewing machine production.
Castigating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for spreading malicious rumours about industry moving out of Punjab, S. Badal said that no industry is moving out of Punjab and the state is well on its way to becoming an industrial giant. He further said that it doesn’t have an iota of knowledge about glorious history of Punjab and Sikhs and is showing its true colours with each passing day. He elaborated that AAP is infiltrated by the naxalite elements which doesn’t augur well for the democratic set up.
He further clarified that the Punjab Government has no role in the stopping the airing of Zee Punjab Haryana Himachal channel as this was done by the Union Government’s regulatory body on media.
Coming to the SYL issue, he made it clear that Punjab Government is ready for any sacrifice to protect river waters of the state and would not allow even a single drop of water to be taken out of state.
Taking a sharp dig at Congress’ campaign strategist Prashant Kishore, S. Badal said that from the way Prashant Kishore is trying to infuse life into Congress party, it seems that he aspires to be next Chief Minister.
Touching the development plan, he said that only SAD has pro-farmer record and it caters to interests of all the sections of society which is evident from the various people friendly schemes for e.g. ——Health insurance for traders and farmers, waving of tube well bills, atta-dal scheme, shagan scheme, mukh mantri tirath darshan yatra, 200 units of free power to the SC households.
He exhorted the people to avoid falling into the trap of parties intending to use them as mere vote banks and instead vote for peace, progress, prosperity and development.
He also took stock of the ongoing development oriented projects in the city and gave instructions for their speedy completion.
On the occasion, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries S. Virsa Singh Valtoha, S. Amarpal Singh Ajnala and S. Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Special Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, S. Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Commissioner of Police S. Amar Singh Chahal, Additional Deputy Commissioner S. Tejinder Pal Singh Sandhu and others were also present.
