Could we be seeing two-time World Player of the Year Ronaldinho donning an Indian jersey in the near future? That’s the rumor that’s got a few million football fans rather hot under the collar right now, as reports continue to suggest that the ex-Barcelona superstar could be on his way to the Indian Super League’s Chennai franchise.
The Brazilian midfielder was rumored to have been brought up in discussion by officials in Chennai, though some went so far as to insist that an OFFER
had been made and Ronaldinho was indeed on board.
“Ronaldinho snubs MLS for Indian Super League!” Tweeted football agent Philip Harmeling.
“He joined the Titans Chennai for two years with total pay of €4.6 million.”
Of course, reliable a source as he may be his comments represented anything but confirmation of the move, though were nonetheless interpreted as official by a number of media sources.
In terms of the reality of it actually happening, sadly it’s not looking like quite the done DEAL some would have us believe. In fact, Ronaldinho’s brother Roberto de Assis has apparently stated that no deal has been made and nor has the MLS star even been approached.
“No, it is not true,” said Roberto de Assis, pretty much quashing the idea outright.
