Renowed wrestler Padam Shri Kartar Singh Joins AAP

Chandigarh, April 3: Padam Shri Kartar Singh, Asian Gold Medalist and winner of several awards in Wrestling joined Aam Admi Party (AAP) today at Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party Punjab affairs in charge Sanjay Singh, Campaign committee head and Sangrur MP, Bhagwant Singh Mann and Party Spokesman, Sukhpal Singh Khaira welcomed him In the party fold.

Kartar is a well known name in the field of sports in India and abroad. He won gold medals in the 1978 Asian Games held in Bangkok and the1986 Asian Games held in Seoul. He won a silver medal in the 1982 Asian Games held in Delhi.

Kartar won a bronze medal in the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and a silver medal in the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. He represented into at Olympic Games in the year 1980, 1984 and 1988.

Kartar served as Director Sports of Punjab and as an Inspector General of Police in Punjab. In 1982 he received the Arjuna award and in 1987 he received the Padma Shri.

Welcoming Kartar Singh, Sanjay Singh Said that it is good to see that the people who are concerned about the society and want to pay back to their motherland are joining AAP. He hailed Kartar Singh’s achievement in sports and said that it will keep on inspiring youngsters to fight drug abuse in Punjab. s

“To promote sports and attract youth towards sports is the need of the hour and the people like Kratar Singh have that capacity to do that” said Bhagwant Mann.

Expressing happiness after joining AAP, Kartar Singh said, “The party has a vision and programme to eradicate evil from the society that attracted me to join AAP. I want to get the Punjab of Bhagat Singh’s dreams back and for that I will guide the youth.” He also promised that after the formation AAP government in Punjab the young players of Punjab will be trained for the 2020 Olympics.

Manjinder Singh, Sukhveer Singh Valtoha and Sewak Pal Singh also joined Aam Adami Party along with Kartar Singh
