Ropar, September 16: Continuing with its aggressive mobilisation campaign, the Aam Aadmi Party today asserted that the people in Punjab, fed up with the corrupt and degenerated Akali Dal-BJP alliance and disintegrating and demoralised opposition Congress, were ready to pen down a new script to usher the state into a new era with focus on the common man.

Today was party’s 15th rally here that are being organised all over the state to gear up the people for the revolutionary change.

Party MP Bhagwant Mann talked in the customary Left idiom saying although the country became free in 1947, the people in Punjab were still to taste the real freedom. He targeted Deputy Chief minister and Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal for saying that the slogan of Inquilab Zindabad being raised at AAP rallies was just a joke. The joke would be upon him in February 2017. He said the people were ready to bring about total change and write a new script.

Party convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur said earlier, both the Akali Dal-BJP alliance and the Congress perceived AAP to be non-player but the situation had now changed as now both were saying that their fight would be with AAP. He underscored that it was perhaps for the first time in the electoral history of the state that the people had already made up their mind 15 months before the elections. He made it clear their fight was against injustice.

Chhotepur appealed to the farmers against committing suicides. He said the farmers’ suicides were a blot on the face of the governments at the centre and in the state. About 3,000 farmers had committed suicide all over the country after the installation of the Narendra Modi government while on an average two farmers were committing suicides in Punjab daily.

Punjab women wing convenor Baljinder Kaur the overwhelming response of the people to the AAP rallies was an indication of the people’s mood and for change.

The AAP leaders targeted the Akali leaders for increasing drug menace.

Party leader from Delhi Shahnaz Hindustani touched upon the revolutionary spirit of the people by reciting poem on Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

RTI activist Dinesh Chadha joined AAP on this occasion.

Other leaders who addressed the rally included Yamini Gomar, Himmat Singh Shergill, Harjot Bains, Deepak Tomar, Chandan Singh and Rajinder Sharma.

Talking to media persons, Mann said both Patiala Mp Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and his Fatehgarh Sahib counterpart Harinder Singh Khalsa should sort out their problems with the party leadership in Delhi.

He made it clear that the issue at present was not as to who would be the chief minister in case AAP came into power as the decision would be taken by the party leadership at appropriate te time.
