Charanjit-channi-1CHANDIGARH, May 6: Punjab Cogress today demanded immediate suspension of Chandigarh police official Narinder Patial for trespassing into Congress Bhawan yesterday and manhandling the party workers and journalists there.

A delegation of the party led by the CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi and comprising of MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu, Inderjeet Zira, Sandeep Sandhu and Kamal Saini met the Punjab and Haryana Governor and the UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki here today and brought to his urgent attention as how the police official had run amuck on Wednesday inside the Congress office.

The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that strict action will be taken against the guilty cop. The delegation brought to the Governor’s notice that the security of the Punjab Congress Bhawan was being taken care of by the Punjab Police and the Chandigarh Police official had no business to barge into the office premises.

In a separate memorandum to the Governor the Congress party also urged him to ensure that after the state government got the Cash Credit Limit from the centre for payment to the farmers for their wheat, he should ensure that the farmers got it on time.

The delegation brought to the notice of the Governor the usual habit and the practice of the Akalis to divert the money meant for the farmers on other things leaving the farmers in the lurch.
