Private school must stop exploiting parents financially – Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, February 16

The president of Aam Aadmi party, Punjab and Member of Lok Sabha Bhgwant Mann on Friday warned private school operators in the state to follow the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court and Punjab and Haryana High Court during admissions in next academic session. He said that if any school is found guilty of exploiting the parents financially then AAP will take actions against the school authorities.

In a press release, Mann said that successive Akali-BJP and Congress governments have ruined the govt. education system under a decided conspiracy. He said that the private education providers are flaying the rules of courts in the state in assistance with the govt. officials.

Mann termed the Fee Regulatory Act-2016 as an eye wash and said that till the time the regulations of Hon’ble Supreme Court and Punjab and Haryana High Court are not included in the act, it will remain toothless. He stressed upon restructuring of the act to benefit the parents of students. Mann said that as per CWP 20516/2016, thye schools cannot charge re-admission fee from the students.

The AAP president Fee Regularity Act is not clear about the annual 8% increase in tuition fee but the private education providers are charging hafty amounts from the students. He accused the successive governments of turning noble cause of education into business. Mann said that the states are even violating the Right to Education Act of centre govt. and depriving poor children of education.

Mann said that the state govt. must learn from AAP lead Delhi govt that under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal is doing great work in the field of education. He said that the teachers from state must be sent to Delhi to learn Kejriwal model of education.
