Prime duty of the Public Relations to disseminate the information on policies, Programs and Achievements of Govt: Spokesperson

Chandigarh, October 12: Publicizing the schemes, policies and achievements of Punjab Government is prime responsibility of Public Relations Department and this process of spreading information about the policies and programs of Punjab Government to the masses at large has been in operation for several decades.

Stating this today in a press communiqué released here today, a spokesman said Public Relations Department is a bridge between the Government and Public. He said that since its inception, the Public Relations Department had been highlighting the Government schemes, policies and achievements through various means of publicity. He informed that taking the thread from the basic duties of PR, the exercise of disseminating information about the development and welfare initiatives of Punjab Government in past 9 years, the State Booklets are being published and distributed throughout the state under the title ‘9 Year of development in Punjab’.

Divulging details of booklet, the Spokesman said that the information regarding schemes and achievements of Punjab Government during last 9 years is being delivered to every household in the state. He said that State Booklet shares information in respect of unprecedented growth in the field of Power and Solar Energy generation besides, new four-six lane road network, air connectivity, construction of International and Domestic Airports, Urban Development, Rural Development, welfare schemes for Farmers, irrigation facilities being provided, revolutionary steps being taken for the elimination of water logging etc. He said that detailed information has also been given in this brochure regarding making potable water available in the state, installation of RO systems to provide pure water, new tubewell connections, free power facilities to farmers, health insurance cover to farmers and compensation in case of damage to crops along with the information on new agricultural institutes for the facilitation of farmers.

Further elaborating the details in booklet, the Spokesman informed that it also contains information regarding establishment of 15 new universities and schools, scholarships and schemes for SC/BC students, initiatives taken in Health and Family Welfare sector, infrastructure development, beautification of main passage leading to the Golden Temple and boosting of tourism in the state. This booklet also provides information in respect of welfare schemes for the poverty stricken, employment, administrative reforms, single window system for industrial fraternity etc.

The Spokesman added that this document of Punjab Government spreads awareness and educates the people regarding construction of different religious and historic monuments along with dissemination of information on sports initiatives, Shagun Scheme and providing utensils to the needy population of the state. He said it also highlights the significant Governance Reforms in Punjab undertaken by opening SAANJH Kendras, Suwidha Kendras and recently established Sewa Kendras which provide instant citizen services. In addition, the document informs about Helplines and email ids for different services as well as info on toll free services. He said that the sole motive of this booklet is to spread the information at grass root level so that masses at large can avail themselves of the schemes and facilities being provided by Punjab Government.
