Chandigarh, August 8: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today called the people of Punjab to understand the nefarious design of SAD BJP to break its alliance on the issue of worst ever law and order situation in the state to polarize this sensitive state. Both these parties are working mutually on common design to disturb the peace of the state and then break the alliance then go for the mandate alone. The SAD has well planned design to disturb the peace of the state, so that it is able to play communal card in the coming vidhan sabha elections. CLP leader also wrote a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner updating him on the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. He also categorically stated that state police should not be involved in any kind of election duty as it is just working as a tool of SAD BJP combine. He requested CEC that central forces should be deployed in order to have fair and free elections in the state.
“The murderous attack on state RSS leader Brig. Jagdish Gagneja (retd) on the busy road in Jalandhar is not an ordinary crime. It has very serious ramifications. Earlier a woman accused in the case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib was gunned down near Gurudwara Manji Sahib at Alamgir a few days back. There is a palpable pattern and it is alarming”, he pointed out.
Mr Channi said these incidents could also be compared to the situation in the beginning of militancy during eighties. At that time too, it was the Shiromani Akali Dal that was on record for hailing such killings. He expressed the apprehension that some similar design was again going to be implemented.
He asserted in case the BJP was equal partner in all the sins of the Badal government against people in the state. The party could not escape from its joint responsibility being the alliance party by saying that the home department is with the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal. Today after the RSS man is shot the BJP and the RSS are having meetings with the Chief Minister but where were they when Baba Dhadrianwala was shot at and number of other incidents happened in the state. The BJP is just shedding crocodile tears but the people of Punjab understand their design now. The democracy functions on the principle of collective responsibility of all the alliance partners.
He demanded that the BJP must come out with its stand on this sensitive issue as being part of the government, it cannot just lodge protest against the attack on Brig Gagneja with the Chief Minister.
He said the law and order situation had been deteriorating over the years but the latest incident is an example of its touching the lowest ebb. He alleged there could be design behind this violence keeping in view the forthcoming elections and the tsunami of anti-incumbency against the Akali Dal-BJP government.
Commenting upon the case having been handed over to the SIT, he said similar probes earlier had failed to give any result. SIT is only formed to cover-up the incident not to reach upto culprits.
