overnment hand behind the attack cannot be ruled: Channi

charanjit-singh-channi480Ludhiana/ Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today asserted that the Government hand behind the attack on Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala yesterday cannot be ruled out because he was vocal against the government. The investigation in the case should be handed over to CBI as the government is in habit of forming SIT just to give safe way to the culprits. Channi also lambasted on Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal and said that he had no moral right to be in power after total breakdown of law and order situation after day light murders every third day.

Expressing shock over well planned attack late last evening near Ludhiana on the convoy of Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala by more than a dozen gunmen in which one of the car occupant Bhupinder Singh Dhakkiwale was killed, he said the situation had crossed all limits.

He said from the way the attack had been planned, it could be inferred that a number of persons were involved and yet, the state intelligence utterly failed as it might have taken some days for the attackers finalize this operation.

Mr Channi said Punjab was witnessing such day light murders one after the other but the latest case was an indication that the state had been converted into what could be described as even worse than a gangland. The attackers had put up a Chhabeel on the road while the attackers were about a dozen who even chased the car in which Dhadrianwale was travelling. They had every information about his movement.

The chief CLP demanded the immediate dismissal of the Badal government and imposition of President rule as the law and order had completely broken down and the state was heading towards chaos in which every person felt unsafe.

He said without going into the aspect as to who was patronizing such armed groups and gangs, free and fair elections would not be possible under this government and this was the most serious aspect of the situation. The only way to ensure safety of ordinary citizen was the immediate sack of the Badal government.

He said it was clear that Mr Badal had lost control over law and machinery as the home department was with Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and as such, he had no right to continue to be in power.
