Chandigarh, September 21- Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today expressed shock and dismay at the manner in which the opposition tried to downplay the bravery shown by the Punjab Police in tackling and eliminating the threat posed by Pak trained terrorists in Deenanagar on July 27, 2015.

Reacting to a statement made by Dinanagar legislator Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary during zero hour in the Vidhan Sabha, the Deputy CM said the  exemplary bravery displayed by Punjab Police personnel was even appreciated by Prime minister Narendra Modi in a cabinet meeting. He said the brave manner in which the terrorists were taken head on had sent a strong message to Pakistan that terrorism would not be tolerated at any cost.

Mr Badal went on to say “we should be proud of our forces and should not raise any issue in the assembly which undermines them”. He lauded the Punjab Police for controlling the situation and said if the force had not taken effective action a major incident could have happened.

The Deputy CM reminded the opposition that the nation had suffered many terror attacks, some with disastrous results. He said however in Punjab the Punjab Police had taken effective action to avert any major causality. He said the State had also lost valuable lives of its officers and would not allow anybody to play politics on this issue.
