On New Year, deaf-mute Pakistani boy sent home

After eight months of separation from his family, Husnain, a 12-year-old Pakistani boy with hearing and speech disabilities, was released from the Juvenile Home here and later reunited with his parents after repatriation at the Attari border today.
After the Union Home Ministry issued orders to the Secretary, Home, and Director, Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, Punjab, this morning, the boy was released from the Juvenile Home. Husnain had been staying here since May 5, 2017.
The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi said in a statement that the boy was handed over in presence of its officials at the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post.
Earlier, escorted by a councillor, law officer, child protection officer and four policemen, the boy was taken from Faridkot to the Attari border.
After getting the orders from the Director (Foreigners) to release the boy and repatriate him to Pakistan, Deputy Commissioner, Faridkot, Rajiv Prashar reached the Juvenile Home and got the boy released.
The BSF had arrested Husnain on May 3, 2017, in Ferozepur.
His impairment prevented him from being identified until December 8, when the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi confirmed that his father, Javed Iqbal, is a resident of Lahore.
The boy was staying in the Juvenile Home with 14 other teenagers from various districts of Punjab.
The Ferozepur Juvenile Justice Board had ordered his release on December 19 after he completed his sentence for straying into the Indian territory without appropriate documents.
