No flights will be diverted from Amritsar Airport- Sukhbir

Amritsar/Chandigarh, September 12: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today asserted that no flight is being diverted from Amritsar Airport to any other place since the State has taken up the issue with Center besides initiating efforts to launch more international and domestic flights in the flight schedule of Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport.

Mr. Badal said that they have apprised the Union Civil Aviation Minister Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati in this regard and the later assured that no flight will be diverted or transferred from Amritsar. Mr. Badal said that Punjab Government was trying to bring back the operations of suspended flights. He said that they have approached Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Indigo and some other international and domestic players to resume and launch new flights from Amritsar.

Mr. Badal stated this while interacting with media persons after paying obeisance at Golden Temple along with his wife and Union Food Processing Industries Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Thanking Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley for awarding second International Airport to Punjab, Mr. Badal said that Punjab has immensely benefitted from NDA government in a short span of one year. He said that Punjab has also sought Rs. 3000 crore for rejuvenation and renovation of irrigation system from Center. He said that in time to come Punjab would get more funds from center, which will give further momentum to development vision of state.

Reacting to local MP Captain Amarinder Singh’s statement about ensuing paddy season, Mr. Badal said that Government is fully prepared to ensure smooth and hassle-free procurement. He said it reflects the level of Captain Amarinder’s frustration, whose political future has become bleak. He said that the former CM should leave the day dreaming since he will not get the post of PPCC chief.

Mr. Badal said that Congress and AAP were severe infighting and there was a competition between both for second and third position in 2017 Vidhan Sabha polls.

When asked about SAD-BJP alliance’s current situation, Mr. Badal said he has already made it clear that SAD-BJP has unending relationship with a strong marriage and there is no chance of divorce.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Mr. Amarpal Singh Boni Ajnala, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Upkar Singh Sandhu, District President SAD unit, Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, both Member SGPC.
