Nabha jail attack smells involvement of Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Majithia: Channi

Charanjit-Singh-Channi

Chandigarh, November 27:  The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today lambasted on the Home Minister S Sukhbir Singh Badal and senior minister S Bikram Majithia for their alleged involvement in the High security Nabha Jail attack today. He said that this was not at all possible without the direct connivance of home minister and the police officials. He demanded that the formation of SIT by the Badal Government is mere eyewash. The incident should be handed over to a sitting judge of high court with a time bound probe. He said the Akali Dal-BJP government in the state had no right to continue after the daring attack on the maximum security Nabha jail  where notorious criminals and terrorists are lodged.

“This is the extreme case of breakdown of law and order resulting from total politicisation of police under the system introduced by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal personally. However, It if the deputy Chief Minister is responsible for every action of law and order break down in the state. In case Mr Badal does not accept the moral responsibility, it would lead to the only logical conclusion of connivance in getting freed gangsters and a terrorist who was earlier brought from abroad”, he added.

Mr Channi said the assailants got freed six jail inmates who were not just ordinary criminals and that too from a jail that that is supposed to be the most fortified. The assailants came and escaped with the six criminals. None of them was even injured. He said going by the details available, the attack was well planned with thorough knowledge of the working of the prison and this did not rule out connivance of every level. He expressed the apprehension that there could be some nefarious design to create disturbance in Punjab on the eve of the Assembly elections to create fear psychosis so that the polling could be manipulated.

The CLP chief said it was also clear that the terrorists and anti-social elements had joined hands and this could be a very disturbing trend for the state that had suffered for more than a decade with thousands of innocent people having lost their lives. He called upon the people to throw out this reckless Government as Punjab can’t afford another disturbance.
