Chandigarh: 12-09-15: S Partap Singh Bajwa, President, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee today lodged a scathing attack on the Prime Minister of india Sh. Narendra Modi and said that it is hypocritical of Mr. Modi to feign ignorance about the excessive security preparation undertaken by the Chandigarh Administration which incidentally comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of india. It is common knowledge that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is always kept in the loop with regard to the security preparation of the Prime Minister given the fact that he is a SPG protectee. Further the SPG in such cases carries out a detailed security drill prior to the Prime Minister’s visit to ensure its efficacy. Hence for the Prime Minister to express regret despite the fact that he in the ordinary course would be aware of it and his office would be fully cognizant of the security arrangements is shocking and demonstrates his disdain for the common citizens of the country.

S Bajwa further said that it is highly unfortunate that a Kargil veteran Brigadier Devinder Singh was forced to shift the cremation of his son to Mohali because the cremation ground was converted into a parking lot for people attending Mr. Modi’s rally. Further a leading Senior Advocate and Former Advocate General of the State Mr. Gopal Krishan Chathrath’s cremation had to be deferred given that the crematoriums were shut down in view of Mr. Modi’s rally. To add to this, senior television journalists father of age 70 was picked up by the police on pretext of apprehension of doing protest in the Modi rally, who was kept in the local police station till early hours. Continuous intervention of the journos and the local press club made it possible in the early morning hours. The mental condition of the above said journalist has become like he has decided to quit job and leave india.

Bajwa said that it is unprecedented in the history of independent india that crematoriums and schools are shut down for a political function of the Prime Minister. Moreover school buses were used to ferry BJP supporters in order to enable them to attend Mr. Modi’s rally. It is abundantly clear that the buck stops with the Prime Minister’s office and the so-called inquiry that the Prime Minister has ordered is nothing more than farce to deflect the responsibility from his own office. This incident brings to light the hollowness of Mr. Narendra Modi’s pre-poll promises of Ache din and exposes the contempt and irreverence that he holds for the citizens of the country.
