Mercedes-Benz stolen at gunpoint in Markham

Markham, Police are looking for two men they say stole a vehicle in Markham during a carjacking.
York Regional Police say two men, one of them armed with a handgun, approached a man in his white Mercedes-Benz shortly before 11 a.m. Friday.
The men pointed a gun at the car’s driver and demanded he hand over his keys and phone, police say. He complied and they drove away.
It happened in broad daylight in a parking lot at 8601 Warden Avenue, near Highway 7, outside of a busy Shoppers Drug Mart.
The victim, who is in his 20s, says he was “shaken up” but not injured.
The missing car is a white 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 with the Ontario license plate BECF 609.
One suspect is described as a 30- to 35-year-old black male, 5’9” tall with a heavy build, a black sweater and black plants.
A second suspect is described as a 30- to 35-year-old black male, 5’9” tall with a slim build and an orange hooded jacket.
“Do not approach the vehicle,” said Cst. Andy Patten of York Regional Police. “If you see it, call 911.”
Police say they believe it may have been a “crime of opportunity.”
