Long time absentee teachers be charge sheeted : Dr. Cheema

Chandigarh, The education department today conducted surprise checking in 904 schools across the state. During the checking in total 90 teachers were found absent and 97 teachers were the late comers. It was also found that 69 teachers had not been attending the schools since long. Disclsoing this here today Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab said that surprise checking was a part of consistent campaign launched by the education department to make sure the 100 per cent attendance in the schools and to maintain discipline. He said that all the explanations of absentee teachers would be called for and those found absent from the schools since long time would be charge sheeted.

In a press communiqué Dr. Cheema said that special monitoring cell of the education department started surprise checking in the schools in the morning. He said that immediately after opening the schools special teams visited 250 schools of Jalandhar Circle, 322 schools of Nabha (Patiala) Circle and 332 schools of Faridkot Circle.

He further said that 30 teachers were found absent in Jalandhar Circle and 37 were late comers while 14 found long time absentee. In Nabha (Patiala) Circle 12 teachers were found absent, 13 late comers and 23 were long time absentee. Similarly, in Faridkot Circle 48 teachers were found absent, 47 late comers and 32 were found long time absentee.

Dr. Cheema further said that to maintain discipline and punctuality in the Government Schools special and surprise checking would continue in future also. He also directed to the senior officers that 100 percent attendance of the teachers would be ensured.
