SANGRUR: As Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today began his five-day tour of the Punjab to take first-hand knowledge of the people’s plight, a ray of hope could be visible on faces the people, they gathered at every nook & corner to not only have a glimpse of him but to share their grievances in the current regime of SAD-BJP rule.

Day began with the visit of Maura village, where Kejriwal directly went to a tiny house, where orphan kids were living, as their parents committed suicide recently due to financial debt. Parents took a loan of Rs 80,000 for the treatment, but could not return and finally committed suicide.

Kejriwal enquired from the grand-parents of the kids, why they did not opt for treatment in Civil Hospital, they revealed that they were forced to go for private hospital, as in Civil Hospital, neither doctors were available, nor medicines.

“We have already instructed all hospitals of Delhi to ensure ample medical facilities in Government hospital and even the strict warning has been issued that no-one, especially poor, should be denied treatment”, Kejriwal said, adding that same would be in Punjab during Aam Admi Party’s rule.

Later on convoy of the Delhi Chief Minister went to Sunam, where he garlanded the statute of Martyr Udham Singh to pay tribute to the great freedom fighter, before addressing the meeting with trader community of the town.

Be it about the faulty tax structure, Inspector Raj or corruption by tax officials, Kejriwal gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured the gathering that model of Delhi, where all such problems have already been eradicated, to be adopted in Punjab too.

In Chhajli village, Kejriwal met four widows of farmers, whose husbands committed suicides recently due to poor plight and heavy debt. “I think that the compensation of Rs three lakh announced by the state government for families of farmers who committed suicide was also embezzled by the corruption officials and politicians, as on ground no such compensation was given to any family”, Kejriwal said.

At Lehal village of Sangrur too, Delhi Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances of three widows of the single family. In view of the Kejriwal’s proposed visit, state government swung into action and handed over cheque of compensation today morning itself.

Even names of the eligible elders of the family was deleted from the old aged pension, but official personally visited the family two days back and got the forms filled up to include their names in the pension list, family apprised the visiting Delhi Chief Minister.

In Sirisiwala village also it a similar fate a family, as 22-year-old youth of the family committed suicide on railway track due to heavy financial crisis, as he took loan of Rs four lakh for setting up a tubewell, but could not even fetch a drop of water from it. Even youth felt fail to enable the treatment of his old aged father, who was suffering with cancer, forcing him to take the extreme step of suicide.

While on the way to Mansa, Kejriwal stopped at a road-side Sher-e-Punjab Dhaba, where people outnumbered to share their views and plight with him and even some of the youths were seen taking out ‘Selfie’ with Kejriwal on their mobile.

Although it was the time of sun-set, but Kejriwal’s convoy was continuing moving towards the destination of another village, to meet more and more people on his first day.
