Kejriwal has miserably failed on job creation front, employment rate in Delhi .014% : Channi

PC-1

Jalandhar, February 24:The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today cautioned the people in the state against dream selling by the Delhi Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal saying he had miserably failed to implement the same. He asserted the promises must be matched by action after coming into power. Addressing a press conference at jalandhar today S Channi particularly referred to the failure on the job creation front of the Kejriwal government in Delhi as in Punjab too, this problem had assumed monstrous proportions that was one of the reasons for the youth turning drug addicts.

Channi quoted figures provided by Delhi government’s directorate of employment in reply to information sought by Dr Jasdeepak Singh under RTI Act with regard to employment situation. As per the reply, the total number of unemployed registered with the directorate till date are 13,49, 794. The figure for the period from February, 2015 till date is 1,34,663. He pointed out that as per the reply, the Kejriwal government had been able to provide employment with effect from February 2015 to only 117 persons through online employment portal and to 1300 through job summits. He said this was negligible as compared to the number of registered job seekers (.014%)

Channi asserted promises must be matched by performance and massive unemployment was at the root of many ills afflicting the Punjabi society. taking this as reference he questioned the tour of Kejriwal to Punjab. Why after befooling the people of Delhi specially youth which is clear from the performance of one year of your government, now you are bent to do the same with the youth of Punjab.

In this context, Channi referred to increasing suicides mainly by small and marginal farmers and farm workers who were essentially under employed. He said with agriculture having turned unprofitable due to number of factors, the alternative was providing employment opportunities while taking long term steps to make agriculture profitable.

Channi underlined the fact that Delhi was a city state whose problems were entirely different but the situation in Punjab was multi-dimensional that only leaders from the state could understand and reach out to people. He said the three major problems confronting the state were the deepening farm crisis resulting in increasing incidence of suicides, staggering army of unemployed and drug addiction. AAP lacked blueprint for the state as its leaders who have been working in Punjab were outsiders who lacked any understanding of the psyche of the people here.

Channi also congratulated Hans Raj Hans for joining the party and expected from him to strengthen the party cadre and party base. He said that along with Hans he would work fro the betterment of the congress party in Punjab and ensure that the congress forms the next government under the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh.

S Hans Raj Hans, S Amarijit singh Samra, Sh Avtar Henry, S Jagbir Brar, Sh SatPal Mal, Chaudhary Surinder, Sh Rajinder Berry, Sh Surinder Mahey and many senior congress leaders at the media briefing, accompanied Channi.
