This gala event has witnessed addition of new countries in its list of participating nations and players of these countries are also non Punjabis.

Maintaining its record, the 5th World Cup Kabbadi has also witnessed the addition of Azerbaijan and Sweden to its list. This time 19 teams are representing the 14 nations and 5 continents. These includes India, Pakistan and Iran from Asia, America and Canada from North America, Mexico from South America, Australia and New Zealand from Australia and England, Sweden, Norway, Italy and Denmark from Europe.
The credit of promoting game at international level by organizing World Cup Kabbadi goes to Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal who also encouraged other Kabbadi playing nations like Pakistan and Canada to send their coaches to rest of world to train their Kabbadi teams. It was Punjab government’s initiatives that encouraged the countries like Spain, Denmark, Argentina, Sweden, Norway, Mexico, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan etc to participate in the World Kabbadi Cup with most of non Punjabi Kabbadi players.
The successful organization of 4 editions of World Cup Kabbadi also act as catalyst and encourages organization of Kabbadi leagues at national and international level that further enlarged the circle of fan followers of Circle style Kabbadi.
