JAYANI APPEALS TO STRIKING DOCTORS: ASKS THEM TO CALL OFF THEIR STRIKE

Surjit-Kumar-Jyani-punjabupdateChandigarh : Mr. Surjit Kumar Jayani Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab today today made an appeal to the doctors of 2015-16 batche who were on an indefinite strike since June 13, in support of their demands regarding pay emoluments, to call off the strike and join back their duties immediately in the larger interest of public.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesman of the government said that, it may be recalled that the direct appointments of the doctors were made through PPSC on the basis of an advertisement appeared in the newspapers in the pay band of 15600-39100+5400. The government issued a notification dated January 15, 2015 that during the probation period of two years, the appointed candidate would get the salary without grade pay. It was also made clear that no other perks including the travel allowances or other incentives or promotion would be granted to them.

The spokesman also said that above condition was clearly mentioned in the appointment letter besides the condition no. 15 of the appointment letter clearly stated that if the appointed candidate agrees to the offer of appointment then he/she would present his/her joining report at the state institute of Health and Family Welfare Department, Punjab in Mohali Phase-6.

Similar conditions have also been kept in the 2016 recruitment process of Baba Farid University Faridkot. Keeping in view this aspect, the Health Minister has appealed to the striking Medical Officers (General) to end their strike in public interest and resume their duty failing which their services would be terminated and they would be blacklisted forever from any government job in Punjab rendering them ineligible for any government job.
