It’s not BJP’s govt, Centre run by companies: Rakesh Tikait at Panchayat Aaj Tak

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait Friday said that the Centre is not run by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but by companies. “It’s not a government of the BJP, its a government of companies,” Tikait said.

“The farmer movement is of farmers and it’s not a political movement,” said Tikait in an exclusive conversation at Panchayat Aaj Tak.

On questions of UP assembly election, Tikait said that “we are not talking about elections, we are asking them to roll back the farm laws. This is democratic protest, and the government is banning our movement and not talking to us.”

In an earlier session, Shivpal Yadav, chief of PSP (Lohia) supported the farmer protests and said that they are not getting proper MSP, and it’s unfortunate for the country. He urged every farmer in the country to come together against the law and added that the farmer protests are an important issue in the upcoming assembly elections alongside rising prices, corruption, and coronavirus.

Earlier on Thursday, Delhi Police on Thursday had restricted 400 farmers from protesting at Jantar Mantar and shifted them to the Singhu border.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at Delhi’s border points for over six months now protesting the three agri laws and demanding a new law be made guaranteeing minimum support price (MSP).

Enacted in September, the three farm laws have been projected by the Centre as major reforms in the agriculture sector that will remove the middlemen and allow farmers to sell their products anywhere in the country.
