It’s High time to liberate SGPC from the ‘kakistocracy’ of Badal Family : Bir Devinder

Bir-Devinder-Singh

Patiala, October 22: ith the overall erosion of age old cherished Sikh values and non-adherence to Sikh ethos in the administration of SGPC, including the Sikh Takhats ( The temporal seats of authority of Sikh religion). it has become imperative that kakistocracy of Badal Family in SGPC affairs must end now. The monopoly of the Badal family has done unfathomable damage to the glory of the Sikh institutions for their vested interests. The open revolt of the SGPC employees including Ragis and Sikh priests, speaks volumes of their mental turbulence and agony , as they are privy to the steep decline of Sikh values that adversely impinge on the administration of the religious affairs of the Sikh community . My Sikh sensibility is completely shattered and bleeding when I see the authority of Sri Akal Takhat and that of the institution of Panj Piaras ( Five Beloved one’s ) grounded and crushed unashamedly by the despotic rulers of Punjab, meaning thereby S. Parkash Singh Badal and his family.

Situation has come to such an unfortunate pass that the Sikh community has been forced to dwell on the sensitive issue, that what if the High Priests i.e. the SiKh Clergies begin to betray the essence of Sikh faith in complete disregard of the fundamental principles of the Sikh religion under malevolent influences. It’s an atrocious pretense that SGPC President Mr. Avtar Singh Makkar has placed under suspension the Panj Piaras of the Sri Akal Takhat, without application of mind, who are entitled to baptize ‘Amrit’ to the Sikhs and bestow upon them the spirituals order of the Khalsa. Panj Piaras are not the ordinary individuals, it is an institution incarnated by Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji and the authority of the Panj Piaras have been well defined and established by Tenth Guru himself on Vaisakhi of 1699 at Sri Anandpur Sahib. How could Mr. Makkar under the dictates of Badal family dare to disparage the exalted glory of this great institution of the Guru Khalsa and place the ‘Panj Piaras’ under suspension by a simple office order?

No individual is indispensable, whatever important position he or she may be holding in the Government or otherwise, for who’s whims and fancies the authority of the Institution of the ‘Panj Piaras’ raised by Guru Gobind Singh ji, could be ravaged blasphemously. People at the helms of the Shiromany Akali Dal (SAD) and SGPC must understand that the institution of ‘Panj Piaras’ was conceptualized and ordained to be inseparable to the idea of the ‘Khalsa’ enshrined and imbedded in the Sikh way of life, which emanate from the Baisakhi of 1699. The collective authority of the Institution of the ‘Panj Piaras’ was well defined, articulated and decreed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji at the time of the incarnation of Khalsa. The ‘Panj Piaras’ were also vested with the authority, even to overrule the Guru if so warranted at crucial junctures in the larger interest of the Guru Panth. And the authority vested with the ‘Panj Piaras’ was literally exerted and exercised in the battle field of Chamkour Sahib on December 22, 1704 when Guru Gobind Singh was commanded to leave the battle field by the ‘Hukamnama’ (Decree) of the ‘Panj Piaras’ in the larger intrest of the Guru and the Panth, wich the tenth Guru obeyed reverently. Badals and Makkars must bear in mind that The institution of ‘Panj Piaras’ has no expiry date and it never ceases to operate, and stay as such in perpetuity.

Good luck to the politics of Badal family; but please don’t destroy the relevance of the Sikh institutions for your narrow parochial vested political interests.
