INFORMATION CENTRE OF DARBAR SAHIB WILL GET A FACELIFT- SUKHBIR

2Amritsar, October 8- Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that Information Centre at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar would soon be facelifted and equipped with latest audio-visual techniques and gadgets to display the heritage in an impressive way. He also informed that beautification work in the plaza at Sri Darbar Sahib would be completed by Baisakhi.

Mr. Badal was interacting with media after paying obeisance at Sri Darbar sahib along with his wife and Union Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal. He said that the work on beautification of way from Town Hall to Sri Darbar Sahib would be commenced soon to give this holy city a new look.

Replying to an inquiry regarding Agri Cisis, Mr. Badal said that Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has announced maximum compensation to the farmers in the country and even raised the issue with Prime Minister for getting to get approval for export of Basmati to the countries where import of rice from India had been banned. He said that White fly had done more damage to cotton crop in states like Rajasthan and Haryana as compared to Punjab but Punjab has announced maximum compensation of Rs 644 Crore to help the farmers in this hour of crisis. He said that Punjab government has also ensured best purchase of sugar cane and cleared all the arrears of cooperative mills.

Mr. Badal said that agitation by a saction of farmers’ organizations were politically influenced and created disruptions for common people and commuters only. He asked the farmers’ organizations to discuss their grievances if any with Chief Minister to get a solution rather than opting for agitations.
On the issue regarding political activities of Aam Admi party, Mr. Badal replied that in democracy everybody has right to jump into electoral politics but the days of AAP were over and so was its magic in the state. He said that AAP had been exposed in Delhi as it took U-turn on all the claims and promises it had made.
In reply to a query regarding spurious pesticides, Deputy CM replied that guilty would not be spared.

Discussing the development of holy city, Mr. Badal said that development works worth Rs 1500 crore have been initiated in the city during last 4 years and in coming 6 months development works of more than 1000 Cr would be initiated. He said that Punjab Government has floated tenders to tackle the sanitation problem of the city and by November 10 work would be started on the project. On this occasion, Mr. Badal also held a meeting with the district administration regarding the ongoing development works being carried out in the district and issued necessary instructions.

On the occasion, Jathedar Avtar Singh President SGPC, Mr. Ravi Bhagat Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner Jatinder Aulakh, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Pradeep Sabharwal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu were also present.
