Jalandhar, August 5
Pargat Singh, a suspended SAD lawmaker from Jalandhar Cantonment, on Friday accused Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, for causing the party’s “downfall”.
In a scathing letter to the Akali patriarch— copies of which he circulated to the press — the Olympian-bureaucrat-politician writes: “I have still not received the letter of my suspension from the party and I term my suspension orders by party president, coming to me via media, as illegal, baseless and dictatorial.”

“It is surprising to me that the party president has not learnt the nuances of exemplary politics from you. Had he only learnt being humble from you, both state and party would not have suffered this way. Instead, he made muscle and money his weapons. Please try to understand the silence of party leaders and workers. It is from this silence that huge storms emanate.”

“The foundation of the party has badly weakened in the past and the allegations of corruption, land and sand mafia, unemployment and family rule have only been deepening, on which no one is showing any signs of worry.”
“’Raj Nahi Sewa’ is a mere slogan of the government. In reality, no section of society is happy under the Akali-BJP regime in Punjab. You dream of 25 years of rule. You may go onto dreaming it up to 50 years but do check ground realities in the state”.
His letter also directly attacks SAD president Sukhbir.

The letter also blames the party for “destabilising” Sikh institutions.
“The party that was based on principles of ‘I may die but my panth should remain alive’ is working on a new agenda: ‘Panth may die or collapse, my family should continue to prosper’.”

Pargat ends his letter with: “Under your patronage, the party which was known for sacrifices is collapsing. History will seek answers for this downfall.”
