Guru Harsahai, Sep 16 : Senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh today cautioned people against getting trapped into to the “false promises” doled out by the Akalis during the election time.

He warned them against getting “carried away by the comedy shows” of the Aam Aadmi Party, saying, “governance is too serious a duty to be left out for clowns and comedians to perform.”

Addressing a public rally here, Amarinder appealed to the youth to beware of the “false dreams” shown by the AAP leaders.

“If you really want to see what they are up to, just go to Delhi and see what they have done there by making people’s life miserable,” he said, adding, people there were regretting over having voted them to power.

Referring to Punjab, the former Chief Minister warned people that the Akalis have already destroyed Punjab during the last ten years and it cannot afford another five years of anarchy.

“Let somebody tell me what is the agenda of the AAP and who is their leader?,” he asked, while pointing out, the party did not have a single leader worth its name who could claim to have some experience.

The veteran Congress leader lashed out at the Akalis and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly pushing Punjab into backwardness.

“Their only contribution to the state is indiscriminate corruption aimed at enriching themselves and spreading the scourge of drug addiction and thus destroying an entire generation of youth,” the Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha said.

He regretted that the Badals have not been able to come out of their alleged greed of amassing personal wealth.

The former Chief Minister also referred to the ‘back- breaking’ electricity tariff charged by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.

He said during his chief ministership the power tariff was Rs 2.40 only but now it has gone to Rs 7.60 per unit now.

“It is difficult for a common man to afford electricity as Akalis have made it so expensive in connivance with the private power producers,” he alleged. .
